FreeHer Institute is an abolitionist think tank founded in 2022 by women and girls directly impacted by the criminal legal system. Our mission is to end the incarceration of women and girls while designing and leading the way toward alternative models of justice and care that exemplify a better future.
Through rigorous policy research and bold experiments, we strive to dismantle oppressive systems and create frameworks prioritizing human dignity, equity, and collective liberation. Inspired by abolitionist principles, we aim to spark transformative change that resonates nationally and globally.
FreeHer Institute is committed to shaping public discourse. We believe language matters, so we prioritize using terms reflecting our commitment to justice. We keep our language clean and straightforward to make our research and vision understandable and actionable.
We engage with individuals and groups across the political spectrum, finding common ground to foster a freer, happier, and more just society. Together, we can move public policy toward a world prioritizing freedom, care, and equity for all.
We invite you to join us in this transformative journey toward liberation.
Please note, donations and cash gifts to the FreeHer Institute are not tax deductible.
